Coordinate Conversion

geospatial

Batch conversion between latitude/longitude and MGA grid coordinates on GDA94 and GDA2020, with grid convergence and point scale factor for every point.

Data

One point per line. Columns can be separated by spaces, commas, semicolons or tabs, so you can paste straight from Excel.

ColumnWhat it isExample
1. Name(optional)Point or well nameMW01
2. LatitudeDecimal degrees, negative south of the equator-37.8142
3. LongitudeDecimal degrees, positive east of Greenwich144.9632

What this calculates

Conversion between geographic coordinates (latitude/longitude) and Map Grid of Australia (MGA) grid coordinates on the GRS80 ellipsoid, using the Krueger series formulation specified in the GDA2020 Technical Manual, plus grid convergence and point scale factor at every point. Datum shifts between GDA94 and GDA2020 use the published national 7-parameter similarity transformation.
