What this calculates

Builds a concentration surface from scattered sample locations using inverse distance weighting (IDW), then derives plume diagnostics relative to a threshold: plume area, peak concentration and its location, the concentration-weighted centre of mass, the average concentration inside the plume, and a concentration-area integral. Absolute plume mass additionally requires aquifer thickness and porosity, which this tool does not assume.

Method references

Inverse distance weighting is a standard, transparent deterministic spatial interpolator widely used in environmental site assessment.
